Pri-Num Ltd., Visa Ready Qualified Token Service Provider, and SB Sberbank JSC, one of the leading banks in Kazakhstan launch a digital payment app.
Sberbank Pay KZ, created for Android-powered smartphones, enables easy and safe mobile payment powered by Visa Token Service and Scan to Pay technology, offering bank’s customers a secure NFC and QR-enabled payment solution.
To use new service Visa cardholders need to download Sberbank Pay KZ application onto their mobile devices, running on the Android operating system (version 4.4 or later) from the Google Play market and complete a simple installation. Following a one-time enrollment process, customers will be able to pay in-store with their Visa cards by waving their smartphones over a contactless POS terminal or by scanning a QR code.
“Our consumers expect to be able to make payments at any given time or place on the mobile device in a secure and easy way. To meet these important demands, we have introduced Sberbank Pay KZ. We are confident that our customers will appreciate the new bank service,” said Alibek Sabraliev, Project Manager, Card and Digital Business Department.
Sberbank Pay KZ makes use of the tokenization technology that helps replacing sensitive account information with a unique digital identifier – a token, which permits NFC-enabled payments to be processed without exposing account details. Also, application is powered with Scan-to-pay feature that allows QR payment on the go with just a few taps. Visa’s QR payments are digitally encrypted, require authentication and approval to be completed and almost anyone with a mobile phone can use it.
“We are proud to introduce our first project in Kazakhstan in partnership with SB Sberbank JSC – a leader of the financial market in the country. Both teams have worked hard to develop new and secure digital payment service that promotes consistency envisioned in the EMVCo standards. We sincerely hope that Sberbank consumers will enjoy the new payment experience,” said Grigoriy Roginsky, Chief Project Officer at Pri-Num.
