SberPay is the most recent application that facilitates payment for goods and services using a smartphone. The contactless payment service was launched in December 2018. This secure payment solution is the result of the collaboration among BPS-Sberbank, Mastercard, and Pri-Num. SberPay can be installed on any Android device with an NFC module. This then allows BPS-Sberbank Mastercard cardholders to easily and safely make payments wherever Mastercard technology is accepted.
This innovative payment solution is the first application in the Belarussian market that is integrated with MDES (Mastercard Digital Enablement Service), which is powered by Pri-Num. Specifically; Pri-Num provided a pre-certified Mastercard certified SDK that the BPS-Sberbank integrated into their mobile app. Pri-Num is also instrumental in providing consulting services for the bank.
SberPay is easy to use once the app is installed. A user simply unlocks their phone and brings it to any contactless payment terminal. Then, the required amount is debited from the card itself. SberPay is supported by the MDES certified SDK solution and also utilizes the Mastercard tokenization technology. This means that all transactions are made with tokens that are as reliably protected like any other payment vehicle by Mastercard.
Cardholders can use SberPay in any product- or service-based store as long as contactless payment terminals are provided. Similarly, SberPay is widely used in the Minsk metro system. But that is not all for this secure payment solution. SberPay also functions as a wallet even when one travels overseas. All that is required is that any given location abroad accepts contactless technology as a payment method.
“Today, we celebrate SberPay success with our partners. Looking ahead, we are positive and enthusiastic to implement other fintech initiatives on the in the Belarussian,“ said Dr. Grigoriy Roginsky, Pri-Num’s Head of Project Management.
